City Moms Blog Network Hits San Antonio For Annual Retreat

0

Running an online business with women scattered from one coast to the other, leaves very little water cooler chat or even high-fives when another Sister joins our Network., so once a year the entire City Moms Blog Network National Team meets for what we deem to be our National Retreat! But don’t let the word “retreat” fool you, it’s about 90% work and 10% play!

This year, we were fortunate to be hosted by the gorgeous JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa in Texas. Our team was welcomed graciously by hotel staff and the picturesque Texas setting. We had the opportunity to tour the property and get familiar with the amenities, which are astounding! From the 36 hole TPC golf course to their six-acre River Bluff Water Experience and ample restaurant selection, this resort is the perfect destination for families looking to get away for the perfect trip!

Their diaper rash spray soothes, treats & prevents diaper rash with an easy, touch-free application, making diaper changes a breeze! Dr. Smith’s is headquartered in San Antonio and was nice enough to provide us with some “sweet relief” during our weekend of meetings with a platter of delicious cookies! They sure know how to make mamas happy!

Unique Fine Dining At The Boiler House Texas Grill & Wine Room

Of course San Antonio is known for its Tex-Mex cuisine, with time-honored establishments like Mi Tierra and Don Pedro’s, serving up sizzling fajitas and the perfect margarita, with a side of mariachi merriment. However, if you’re more on the foodie route and want to veer from the traditional Mexican fare, Boiler House Texas Grill & Wine Room located in the revitalized Pearl District is sure to please the palate. Rich San Antonio culture and history are found throughout the original 1894 structure, and the forward-thinking menu is rich with unique items like Texas whiskey bacon caramel kettle corn, jalapeño quail poppers, octopus prepared in a warm chorizo vinaigrette, and bison tartare. Our group was fortunate enough to dine in the Fishbowl, a beautiful glass room overlooking the first floor. This is the perfect place for a first date, a guys get together to sample from their 25+ Texas craft beer selection (Boiler House was just named one of the best 10 brunch spots in American by Men’s Journal), or a fun girls night out before heading to the Riverwalk, just a few minutes away.

Progressive Dinner With Cortez Family Restaurants

IMG_8653-1

By far one of the best San Antonio-experiences of the weekend was a stroll in El Mercado and a progressive dinner and margarita tour! We started at La Margarita, where the food was ah-mazing and the margaritas hit the spot! And to make the experience come full-circle we were serenaded with “La Bamba” by a darling mariachis band.

After we’d had our fill of chips, salsa and margaritas, we headed down the street to Viva Villa for a swirl of their Big Red Soft Serve and Mexican Vanilla Soft Serve! Delicious!

And we didn’t stop there! Next on the tour was our final stop at the infamous Mi Tierra. We were treated to another delicious margarita and handed goodie baskets of sweet treats as we left. We also go to take a tour of the restaurant by the owner and had a chance to see the mural of Mexican influencers, which was remarkable.  This was by far one of the best progressive meals and dining experiences we have had!

You might be thinking, if all this was only 10% fun, then what did the 90% work look like!? Very full to-do lists, lots of discussions, growth goals, value defining and full hearts as we plan to make 2016 the best year yet for City Moms Blog Network!
