Celebrating International Women’s Day

0

If the past few years have taught us anything, it’s that women carry a heavy load — sometimes physically, often mentally. We work; we take care of the kids; we are the keeper of the calendar, the chauffeur, the short order cook and the house cleaner. We can’t give 100% to all areas at all times, but we do an excellent job of juggling, and in a pandemic no less. This is why, on March 8, 2022 — International Women’s Day — we all deserve to celebrate.

International’s Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, cultural, economic, and political achievements of women. This year’s campaign theme is “break the bias” — we should imagine a gender equal world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination, where difference is valued and celebrated.

City Moms Collective is inclusive of women from all backgrounds, and we value and celebrate all of us!

The Challenges Women Face

Being a woman has its challenges. We worry when we’re walking home alone at night, we worry that persistence or confidence will immediately be labeled “bossy,” and we worry that our daughters will also carry these burdens. Thankfully, we are here to support each other through these challenges.

Overcoming the Comparison Trap

As powerful as we are, we all have insecurities. It’s only natural to compare ourselves to celebrities in the media, and even to each other. This is where we need to break the stereotypes and stop assuming that someone has it all together just because of the way they look or how they present themselves on social media. City Mom Collective contributors write about celebrating their bodies, no matter the shape or size!
