Do you have another job besides your Sister Site? If so, is it outside the home? Is it full-time or part-time?

Not anymore! This grew into my full-time job. Previously, I worked as an associate at an Executive Search firm.

Are you an early bird or a night owl? (A.K.A. When do you get most of your work done?)

Both. Burning both ends in order to spend more focused time with my kids. But I do find that I do better, more productive work in the morning.

In 5 words, what does a typical day in your life as a Site Owner AND a mommy look like?

Art of Multi-tasking, Balance, Flexibility & Grace.

What would your tagline be?

Coffee is my love-language. Seriously 🙂

What made you decide to join City Moms Blog Network as a Sister Site Owner?

I’ve always loved finding a way to build community, from high school groups to resident life positions in college, I’ve always loved it. I love the way moms can come together with little in common other than being moms – being able to facilitate that is a huge privilege.

In your opinion what is the biggest benefit to being part of City Moms Blog Network?

As you build community for other moms, you are gaining it for yourself in so many ways. From the friendships and connections you gain in your local community and team to the broader friendships gained through connecting with the other site owners around the country. The country becomes smaller and you have new friends from coast to coast.

How do you maintain or try to maintain a work-life balance?

Planning ahead, delegating and letting go. I try to plan ahead and preschedule as much social media as possible and plan out sponsored posts with enough time to not have to throw them together at the last minute. I’ve found that learning to let go of minutia and control to allow other team members to grow and take responsibility makes it more fun and less stressful. Also letting go of the plans I may have had for something – if I had a guide going “live” in my head on a certain date, but my kids need Mommy and I need to push it back a day or two (or twenty!), I give myself the grace to do so.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned as a Sister Site Owner?

That there is so much to learn from others. My way might be fantastic and a have a great end-result, but listening to others and taking their input to heart can often get us to an even better end-result.

What is the most rewarding thing about being a Sister Site Owner?

Hearing from moms who were looking for community that they’ve found it, or from those that needed to hear that they weren’t the only one going through something, that they felt they could relate to an article one of our writers wrote from their heart. Essentially, knowing that we help moms feel less lonely on this journey.

What piece of advice would you give someone thinking about becoming a Sister Site Owner with CMBN?

Think hard about how you want the business to function before you decide if you want to be in it with someone or on your own. If you want to be in charge and take the helm, make the final calls, etc., then move forward on your own and find people you can hire to help you (you will need them!). If you think you want to build it with someone, to be sure that you and your potential partner have the same goals and ideas for what work in the future looks like. Either way can absolutely be successful, but the excitement of the journey to come can take over a bit and forward thinking is critical to your job satisfaction in the future.

Finish this sentence :: I have never…

been so sleep deprived…but I wouldn’t change a thing.

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?

Almost daily morning stops for coffee-shop coffee and an evening glass of red.
