elizabeth-vosHow many children do you have? Please include their ages.

One child – 22 months – hopefully more on the way

Do you have another job besides your Sister Site? If so, is it outside the home? Is it full-time or part-time?

Marketing and Communications Director – leading the charge for a team of Project Managers and Content Management Specialists to create eGov web solutions for the State of Colorado – outside the home – FULL TIME+.

Are you an early bird or a night owl? (A.K.A. When do you get most of your work done?)

Night Owl! I would love to have the discipline to get up early and be productive before heading downtown to the office, but the mornings in our home are for packing lunches, dance parties, and organizing the family before we head off in three different directions!

In 5 words, what does a typical day in your life as a Site Owner AND a mommy look like?

Prioritize, Embrace Each Moment, Breathe.

What would your tagline be?

I’m not a “mommy blogger.” Heck, I’m not even a blogger, I’m a business woman.

What made you decide to join City Moms Blog Network as a Sister Site Owner?

Honestly, the opportunity was brought to me by a dear friend and sister site owner, who told me that I just HAD to do this. She was right. This job gives me the chance to combine all of my passions: relationships, writing, parenthood, entrepreneurship, business development, marketing, and supporting my local community. Ultimately, the encouragement and support of my husband, who saw this as an opportunity for me to really do something I love is what gave me the courage to jump in and begin this incredible adventure.

In your opinion what is the biggest benefit to being part of City Moms Blog Network?

CMBN and Sister Site ownership gives you the chance to step outside your normal life responsibilities and build your own business. Each success is so empowering, whether it’s signing your first advertising contract or publishing a piece of content that really reaches your readers — the sense of accomplishment is awesome. What’s even more awesome is that even if you’re a sole owner, you’re not in this alone. For the days when there are more struggles than successes, you have the incredible support and community of the other site owners – many of whom have been through a similar situation and can offer advice and resources to get you through the rough patches! These women really rally around each other – in success and in struggle, to celebrate or commiserate, we’re all part of a sisterhood.

How do you maintain or try to maintain a work-life balance?

Having a full time job, and my commitment to being a great mother and even better wife actually forces my work-life balance (er, work-work-life balance). I set achievable goals, realize when I have to set aside my perfectionist standards, do my very best, and know when to say “work can wait”. My son will only be 18 months old once, and I don’t want to look back and regret that I missed something. My work is to enhance my life, to allow me to use my talents and exercise my brain, but my family IS my life.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned as a Sister Site Owner?

Set reasonable, achievable, measurable goals. When the list seems too long: prioritize what MUST be done. Do those things, and then go to bed. The rest of the list can wait, and a tired mommy is not a happy, productive, or successful mommy.

What is the most rewarding thing about being a Sister Site Owner?

I get to do the things I love, I’m making a difference in the lives of other moms, I’m becoming a better wife and mom. I’m also doing this work alongside a community of women who support and love each other – the Sister Site owners really are so incredible!

What piece of advice would you give someone thinking about becoming a Sister Site Owner with CMBN?

Take the risk, and give yourself lots of grace along the way! Be open and honest with your partner, and make sure they are as committed as you are to the success of your new business, and that they understand that this isn’t a hobby. Joining CMBN as a Sister Site Owner will affect your family, and you want your partner to understand and believe in the work you’re doing You are not a “mommy blogger” — you are a business woman!

Finish this sentence :: I have never…

taken a risk that was “all my own” before I started Denver Metro Moms Blog

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?

I refuse to feel guilty about indulging now and again in life’s pleasures. . . But I probably have too many shoes.
